TOO MUCH POETRY
Flora Leask Arizpe
I am the sweat on the hieroglyph
From the hand that carved the sign.
I am the need for silence,
And I am the obvious rhyme.
I am the ink of the bird:
The intention of this grey sky.
I am the ever-greening present
Of words circling the mind.
In this poem I hope to emphasise the anaphora. I want to convey how there is poetry in everything, but in a really simple and spare way. The four images hopefully act like panels or still shots which, although unconnected, come together to evoke this central conceit.
Flora Leask Arizpe is a writer based in Scotland. She has had short stories and poems published in several online and in-print publications, such as Gutter Magazine and Interpret Magazine.
